Sharing the bloggy love with my friend Housewife Plus

My good blog friend Sarah at Housewife Plus nominated me for a Liebster Award last week earlier this month!

Liebster-Blog-Award-2-Post-450x150

Sarah says:

What is the Liebster Award? Well, as far as anyone really knows, it is a like a high five for new(ish) bloggers. The idea was first launched by a German Blogspot blogger as a sort of chain letter award that is passed around the Internet between bloggers. There is no real award. There are no banquets or medals or flashy speeches. The rules are relatively simple.

So Sarah gave me 11 questions. Here goes:

1) What was your first favorite blog?

I vaguely remember blogs like, coming into consciousness at the end of the 90s. So this question is going to date me. It was probably Courtney Love’s blog, which she called The Void, one one of many incarnations of her band(‘s Web site).

2) How do you find time to write?

LOL, now, it’s usually when I am pumping breastmilk.

3) When was the last time you spent a day totally unplanned?

The day before I went into labor.

Well, that’s not totally true. But that was the last time I spent a day free from all obligation to anyone.

4) What was the last great book you read?

I read plenty, but lately I’ve read mostly non-fiction. I really enjoyed All Joy and No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenthood, by Jennifer Senior.

5) Have you written a book? (plus it here!)

One day, maybe!

6) Who are your favorite bloggers/writers?

Of course I love all of my bloggers here on the BDN. It’s hard to pick favorites but here are a few: John Haskell’s excellent blog on Maine economics, or Ally Sorenson’s blog on couponing (and life with her tween and autistic teen), my nominator Sarah Cotrell’s blog, Housewife Plus, and Weight Watcher’s of Maine leader Jackie Conn’s blog.

Off the BDN I owe so much love to Emily at One Mom in Maine, who was one of my inspirations to get me to start running (and writing – she was my English teacher in high school). And as a new mom/runner/pug owner, I have to give some love to Carrots N Cake. And my favorite fitness blog is Run this Amazing Day. Wow that girl is fit.

7) How many countries have you been to?

3. The U.S., Canada and the Bahamas.

8) If you could learn any language which would it be?

Probably Spanish. I know French pretty well so I can pick up key ideas when I read it, but I wish I knew it better.

9) What is one blog goal or challenge you want to accomplish for 2015?

I’m sure I’ll write more about this in the coming weeks. Professionally, I’d like to see our merry band of writers grow here. Personally, I’d like to run a half-marathon again.

10) What is one strange or surprising fact about you that would surprise your readers?

While I might be crafty — I love to knit — I have no green thumb. I kill all my houseplants, eventually.

11) What did you know – or hear – about the Liebster Award before today?

I hadn’t. But thanks for the bloggy love, Sarah!
